Bio:
Dr. Johnson has over 25 years of experience in primary care, public health and global health as a clinician, teacher, policy-maker, technical advisor and manager. She currently serves as Chief Medical Officer of La Familia Medical Center, a large community clinic in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She holds academic appointments in Global Health at the University of Washington and in Community Health at the University of New Mexico. Previously, she directed a program to scale-up HIV prevention and treatment in Mozambique and also served as Medical Director of the Cleveland Department of Public Health. She completed her undergraduate and medical education at Ohio State University, her Family Practice Residency at the University of New Mexico, and holds a Masters in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University.
Her career has been focused on work and advocacy with marginalized populations both in the US and in internationally, especially in the areas of women’s and children’s health, HIV and urban health. She is currently finishing her first book, The Ecology Cure: A Roadmap to Wellness for Humans and the Earth.
